The German sailing ship “Frieda Mahn” The German 3 masts sailing ship “Frieda Mahn” was built in 1891. Probably unaware of the declaration of war because not having radio equipment, she is captured, off Cherbourg, on September 8th, 1914 by the destroyer “La Rapière”.
Seized, and sold by auction, she is renamed “Bon Premier”. She is shelled and sank September 29th, 1917, at 200 miles southwest of the Island of Ouessant (Ushant).
Seven internees of Ile Longue come from the “Frieda Mahn”.
